Atascadero Easter Egg Hunt
Atascadero, California (One time event during coronavirus)
We understand. The plague has come to California and we are all under quarantine. We all want to get back to adventuring outside our homes, but never fear, Easter is still here, and Atascadero has a great answer for it!
Due to the COVID-19 virus, this year people are unable to gather to celebrate Easter, so the town of Atascadero in San Luis Obispo county has been organizing a city wide Easter Egg hunt, all from the safety of your own car! In order to allow for proper social distancing, the people of Atascadero have been making large 3 to 4 foot tall Easter Eggs, usually out of cardboard or poster board, etc., and then placing them outside their houses or businesses. People are then driving around town to see how many of these eggs they can locate in their adventure! There are literally hundreds of them up and around the city. And it doesn't just stop there, as the giant Easter Egg hunt has spread to nearby communities as well as other states and even across the oceans to other countries and continents!
To see some of the Easter Eggs you can check out the Facebook Group devoted to finding them, as well as their awesome online map showing user submitted eggs!
Some of the more unique egg scenes involved an Easter Bunny Truck and an Easter Bunny Bigfoot! So take a look at the map, get your family in the car, and enjoy Easter in time of the coronavirus! Stay safe and we can't wait to get back to Weird California adventures after the lockdown is over! Happy Easter everyone!
